St. Augustine is a beautiful, historical city, featuring charming Spanish culture and architecture. Dating back to 1565, it is referred to as the “Nation’s Oldest City” and was founded by Don Pedro Menendez de Aviles.
In the late 1800’s, St. Augustine developed into a booming resort community with the help of Henry Flagler and the birth of the Florida East Coast Railroad and his opulent hotels. Today, his former hotels house Flagler College, The Lightner Museum, and Santa Monica Hotel. Many of the homes in the area have been lovingly restored and historic St. George Street is a very popular destination for many visitors.
